Our relationship with Romain Oil began with a wonderful combination of serendipity and smarts. When a series of clever mailpieces began to arrive for them from their family alma mater, which just happened to be a prestigious prep school we did a ton of award-winning pieces for, they just HAD track down whoever created them. Meet Ink&Pixel, and the rest was history.

The company was ready to refresh their identity and commemorate 75 years of service to their customers, and sought out a firm that could achieve their vision. Their company story is typical of a local blue-collar service-based industry, right? Wrong! This is an energy company with the grit of small business to outlast them all, working in concert with truly world-class customer service. It’s no joke: their customers gush about how much they LOVE their heating and cooling company.

We’re no stranger to that happy feeling of a great fit, and our collaboration with the Romans was no exception — which all started with them seeking out a like-minded company to work with on their own brand. We love what we do. And we love it when others do too.

  • The Roman family was in transition to bring in the third generation of family to run the business at the time we initiated the identity phase. It was such a great opportunity for us to listen to both the oldest and youngest voices of the business, and the logo solution was certainly informed by their joint insight. Talk about inspiration — this family is remarkable, so the pressure was on to create a logo that embodied their legacy. The solution: a custom "R" monogram, where we turned the downstroke into a Roman column with three grooves paying tribute to all three generations and their enduring family legacy.
  • To emphasize the logo's linear elements, we chose to punch up some of the print work with a textured paper stock called "Columns" which added a warm, tactile appeal to the company's correspondences and invoicing.
  • The new insignia gave way to a dramatic upgrade for their company letterhead, invoices, business cards and more.
  • Production can be just as fun as the design phases of a project, and the results of these efforts and monies applied to printing are always a game changer for the end product! Here, a stamping die with clear, heat-pressed foil was used to achieve the smooth, shiny look of the monogram against the toothy, velvety sheet. The stock for these note cards was actually a duplex sheet: red and white paper bonded into one, creating this spectacular two-tone look.
  • Form follows function: a double gate fold makes sure services are clearly and equally represented — not too hot, not too cold!
  • Their entire fleet of fuel delivery tankers and service vans got a fresh custom paint job and were wrapped in striking vinyl graphics for the new look.
