One of the beautiful things about having your business for a long time is the relationships that you build. You become an expert and partner with experts who help you continue to raise your craft. This is a love note to printers and other skilled tradesmen.
At Ink&Pixel Agency we always try to hire printers with brick and mortar locations so we are able to oversee jobs when they are on press. We only use printers we trust, but as the designers, we know our jobs and how they should look. Our printers understand that we are looking to create magic and they are the ones capable of bringing our ideas to fruition.
I love press checks. I know that not everyone feels that way, but I do. To have the time to step away from your computer, roll up your sleeves, and physically watch your concepts come to life — the noise, the mechanics, the feel of the paper as it comes off the press. To be standing right there in the middle of all of the action on the press floor. You get to push your ideas further. And when you hit the jackpot, like our partnership with Anthony Cannelli and his team at Cannelli Printing in West Haven, you know that they will bring the same desire to transform the experience beyond ink on paper.
One of the things we love about working with Cannelli Printing is they’re a fourth generation business who knows their craft better than anyone and their equipment runs the gamut from antique letterpress to brand new digital. We’ve been working with them since Anthony, Jr. was just a preschooler (pictured here, now running presses). Whatever we can envision, they can make.
When we recently printed our new Ink&Pixel cards at Cannelli Printing, we were able to transform Midnight Black, 130# Strathmore Premium DTC Wove, into graphic diamond plate. Our woven patch was created first, and I wanted a backdrop for the new brand that spoke to the experience of being a brand mechanic.
The simple branding tool of a business card was transformed into merchandise by using embroidery, embossing, foil stamping and engraving. Together they made the experience complete. And we love the results.
